It’s summer and sandals are being pulled out of the closets, from under the bed, and off the store shelves. At the same time, feet are getting attention and their own beauty routine.
A simple home pedicure is a good place to start when beautifying feet.
- Trim toe nails straight across. Take a file to smooth the nail and gently round the edges.
- Use cuticle oil and a strong foot cream. Massage it in. Pay special attention to rough heels and balls of feet.
- With rolled up paper, toe spacer, or a few cotton balls, make room between each toe.
- Use nail polish remover to remove any oil or cream that may interfere with polish adhering to nails.
- Apply a protective base coat and 2-3 coats of nail polish.
Nail polish is a part of most beautiful foot routines.
Be creative with nail polish. Summer is a perfect time for corals and berries because they are the same colors of summer fruits. White will complete a beautiful white outfit with white sandals. Women with darker skin may choose an opaque white. Try a “French manicure” painted style with two shades of pink. Add crystals and use metallic colors to reflect the summer sun.
Nail polish hints:
- When a favorite nail polish thickens up, instead of throwing it away, add a few drops of nail polish thinner
- If nail polish ends up on skin instead of nails, a cotton swab dipped in nail polish remover will easily fix mistakes (gently squeeze off excess remover)
- Two thin coats will dry faster and may be more lasting than a single thick coat.
- A base coat protect your nail and a top coat protect your polish.
Pamper your feet and they will reward you by looking beautiful though out the summer months.
