Eye Make-Up Basics

Eyes are the windows to the soul because they are very communicative. They are what give your face energy and individuality. It is important to know eye make-up basics, so the eyes reflect your true beauty.

Here is some basic information on eye make-up:

Eyeliner-this eye make-up is meant to define your eyes and not be the focal point of your makeup. These are available in various colors and forms.Whatever you choose, make sure that it looks natural, which is why you should choose either black or brown in a fine line.If your pencil is too soft, put it in the refrigerator for a bit.On the other hand, if they are too hard you can soften them by holding them between your fingers.

Eye shadow- is meant to highlight and define your eyes. It is used to create depth so you will need to find what works for you. A simple tip to remember is that a dark color on your eye lid will make your eye appear smaller, while a lighter color will make it look larger.

Mascara-this eye make-up is used to frame your eyes and make your face come alive. It softly accentuates the eyes while thickening and darkening the lashes. It should be your eyes finishing touch. You can choose from several different types of mascara, including thickening, waterproof (do not wear this for extended periods of time or it will dry out your lashes) and even smudge proof. Match the color of your eyebrows or slightly darker.

Before going to bed, always remove all eye make-up. Using make-up remover made for eyes will assure your eyes will not become irritated.

Beautiful Lashes

Everyone wants long lashes and some women work so hard at it that they end up damaging their lashes. Always be gentle around eyes

Curled lashes will appear longer. When using an eyelash curler, be sure it is clean and works properly so eyelashes are not damaged. Slightly warm (don’t allow to get hot) the eyelash curler with a blow dryer. Curl lashes starting from the inner lash and move to the outer lashes.

Mascara will make lashes look thicker and longer. Some lashes don’t stay curled unless mascara is applied first. If this works for you, be sure to clean curler after use so lashes don’t stick and get plucked out. Be sure to take off mascara before going to bed. Leaving mascara on lashes too long can contribute to lash loss.

Aloe Vera gel accentuates lashes. For a quick and healthy eyelash enhancer on days when little or no makeup is worn, apply pure aloe vera gel to eyelashes. Apply with a clean finger starting from it’s base and moving upward. A cleaned old mascara brush dipped in the aloe vera gel will work well. Ideally, use it right from the aloe vera plant when possible.

Give lashes a break from makeup so they have a chance to restore themselves. Makeup stresses eyelashes. Be sure there is one or more days a week when eyelashes aren’t bothered (except for maybe some aloe vera gel) with makeup. Be sure when you sleep, all makeup from eyes are removed.

False lashes are good for special occasions. If you haven’t used false eyelashes before, first test the glue on an eyelid at the base of the lashes. Practice a couple times and have a trial wearing before the special occasion to make sure false eyelashes will work for you.

Beautiful eyelashes will provide a beautiful frame for eyes.

Memorable Eyes

They say the eyes are the gateway to the soul. Memorable eyes make for a memorable gateway to a beautiful soul. Inner beauty should never be neglected, but outer beauty shouldn’t be neglected because it can draw others inward.

Your eyes can tell much about you. To have what they reveal be positive, the following can add to having beautiful memorable eyes:

  • Apply eye shadow with an eyeliner brush. Brush on about three layers of shadow just above the top lash lines. On the  outer corners, come up slightly. Blend the eyeshadow into your creases and onto your brow bones.
  • Define eyelid crease. Focus on natural crease, not the wrinkles. Apply eye shadow that is slightly darker than eye shadow on the lid onto the crease.
  • Open up the eyes. Using an eye shadow color that is light, apply a dab to the inner part of the eyelid and blend into the color on the eyelid. Take a light color and apply a thin line under eyebrow line. Blend in.
  • Choose a look. For a softer more natural look, light colors that match skin tone and hair color. For a dramatic look, darker or brighter colors should be used.

All eyes can be more beautiful with the right makeup application.

Wrinkles Around the Eyes

With age comes wisdom and wrinkles. There are ways to prevent wrinkles around the eyes. Once wrinkles occur, creams and lotion can reduce the appearance of lines and wrinkles.

To prevent wrinkles:

  • Always use sunscreen. There are even special sunscreens designed for the sensitivity of the skin on the face.
  • Wear a hat to protect skin from the sun and squinting
  • Put on sunglasses, squinting is a major cause of wrinkles around the eyes.
  • Stop smoking because it reduces your circulation and introduces toxins to the body which can contribute to poor skin health and wrinkles
  • Apply aloe vera around eyes, it protects and restores.
  • Always be extra gentle with the thin and fragile skin around eyes.

To treat wrinkles there are many eye creams and lotions available. They are effective, but results may take time, so be patient and continue to use the product for a couple months before tying something else. The skin needs time to regenerate.

How different types of aniti-wrinkle creams work:

  • Day creams prevent and reduce puffiness and dark circles under eyes.
  • Night creams that contain Alpha hydroxy acid and/or retinol protect against damage to skin.
  • General creams provide moisture to skin and prevent moisture loss..

Preventing new wrinkles is the best advice when it comes to wrinkles around the eyes.

Red Puffy Eyes

It is hard to feel beautiful with red puffy eyes. There are different reasons healthy people have red puffy eyes and dark circles under their eyes. There are different ways to correct the problem. Until the cause is discovered, eye drops and makeup can help.

These are some of the causes:

  • Food sensitivity-milk and wheat are common contributors to dark circles.
  • Exposure to dark damp areas-mold can grow and release spores into the air
  • Indoor allergies-dust, animals, mold, and mites
  • Pets-pet saliva is more of an allergen that pet hair
  • Air in home-poor ventilation and dirty filters
  • Outdoor allergies-plants, grass, flowers, and pollution

Not all exposure can be controlled. These are some ideas of ways to reduce the impact by relieving red puffy eyes, and reduce dark circles:

  • Avoid or eliminate foods that effect eye beauty
  • Keep areas dry and clean with 1% bleach solution to kill/reduce mold
  • Clean indoors thoroughly
  • Have pets groomed and avoid saliva
  • Open windows periodically even during the winter
  • Replace air filters
  • Limit outdoor expose especially between 4am and 10am when pollen is at it’s highest
  • Go to bed with clean hair and a clean pillow case so the allergens that are on the hair don’t end up on the pillow to be breathed in throughout the night.

The changes above won’t change the appearance of the eyes immediately, but it’s worth the wait to have beautiful eyes.
