Things from nature can add to natural beauty. Look around the yard, kitchen cabinets, and in the refrigerator before heading to the cosmetics department.
From the yard:
- Aloe Vera-it protects and heals skin. As it dries, it will also slightly tighten up sagging skin. Cut a piece of Aloe Vera off the plant. Trim off all spines. Open from the base where it is cut and slightly separate the sides. The inside will contain gel and juice that can be applied to skin. Store in a airtight container or plastic bag. Use within a few days. Aloe Vera gel can be applied to eyelashes as a mascara alternative.
- Lemons-has several uses as a beauty aid. To lighten discolored elbows, cut lemon in half and hold cut end on elbow for about 10 minutes then wash and apply lotion. To exfoliate skin, rub a cut lemon and sugar on skin 1-2x per week. It will also help age spots and freckles lighten. Especially blond haired people will benefit from using the juice from one lemon mixed with a cup of warm water as a hair conditioner. A few tablespoons of lemon juice mixed with olive oil rubbed into the scalp will treat dandruff problems. Soaking feet in lemon juice, olive oil, and milk will make feet soft and smooth within weeks.
From the kitchen:
- Coffee-use the left over coffee or run the water through used coffee grounds. Brunettes can use this to rinse hair. Be sure coffee is completely cooled.
- Olive oil-warmed it can be used as a hot oil treatment for hair. It can also be rubbed into troublesome dry spots on skin.
- Vinegar-can be used as a hair rinse and help control dandruff.
There are many recipes for beauty products, which use natural ingredients from the kitchen.

Vinegar isn’t just for Easter time. There are a wide range of uses for vinegar. It is commonly known it can be used for cleaning (never mix with bleach though!). What is less common is how vinegar can become part of a beauty routine and increase the effectiveness of a diet. Cider vinegar is inexpensive and can be picked up during regular shopping trips to the grocery store-no special ordering needed!
Apple cider vinegar has been reported to do the following:
- Stop dandruff
- Clear skin
- Regulate blood sugar
To stop dandruff-wash hair as usual. Use diluted apple cider vinegar to rinse hair. Try using your usual conditioner before rinsing and then after rinsing to see what works best for you and your hair type.
To clear skin-mix one cup water and 2 tsp cider vinegar on trouble spots. Vinegar has a high pH and can assist in stopping breakouts on skin. With this and any new product, always test it first. Some people choose the skin on inner upper arm to test because if there is a problem it is not noticeable.
To regulate blood sugar-2 Tbs in salad dressing or dissolved in water helps prevent blood sugar from spiking, especially after high-carb meals.
Stable blood sugar levels have the following benefits:
- Decreased hunger
- Reduced cravings
- Less mood swings
- Increased energy
Ways to add cider vinegar to diet:
- Drink a glass of water with cider vinegar mixed in about an hour before meals.
- Splash a little cider vinegar on vegetables.
- Use cider vinegar in salad dressings.
External beauty can be enhanced by incorporating vinegar in beauty and diet routines.

It is fun to have the mini suite cases full of makeup tools. This is not always practical to carry around and choosing a few beauty tools for a small will assure you always look fresh. For a woman who is the practical low maintenance type, you can achieve beauty with just a few tools. For both types of women, these tools are essentials:
- Eyelash curler-this little marvel will help your eyes look instantly alive. Keep it clean so that lashes don’t get stuck on sticky old mascara and get plucked out. Hold the curler at the edge of your lash line and squeeze gently. The idea is to curl the eyelashes without damaging them.
- Slant-tip tweezers-use to keep on top of stray eyebrow hairs. Maintained eyebrows maintain a polished look. Grab hair at root and pull in the direction of growth to minimize discomfort.
- Cotton swabs-these little wonders are essential because they can do several jobs. Cotton swabs can apply, blend, blur edges, and clean-up stray makeup.
- Big powder brush-to dust face with a a translucent powder to give a finishing look. It will give a more natural look than using a traditional powder puff.
- Concealer brush-will cover dark spots and blend imperfections away without a heavy mask appearance. Let your well cared for skin show.
Save the big beauty toolbox for special occasions and when you have lots of time to devote to your beauty routine. For the quick trip to the store or for the woman who prefers to keep it simple, just a few beauty tools are needed to look fresh and finished quickly anytime you want.

Give your daughters a head start on beauty. While your daughter still thinks you know everything, before the tides change and she thinks she knows everything, teach her basic beauty tips, she’ll thank you when she’s grown! Even if she travels away from those lessons, she will find herself returning to them when she is older.
- Inner beauty reflects on outer beauty in a positive way. Beauty starts from within. Encourage a good character, high morals, and strong values in your daughter.
- Take care of your hair. Protect it from the sun, use quality hair products, and limit stress to hair from heat (curling irons) and chemicals (coloring, permanents, highlighting, straightening). Have it trimmed regularly.
- Learn to appreciate and work with what you have. After years of straightening naturally curly hair, I learned to work with the curls. Most of the compliments I receive are about my hair now!
- Be gentle with skin. Protect it from the sun, use moisturizers (starting around 12-13 when hormones change is a good idea), and have a gentle touch, especially around the skin around the eyes.
- Exercise 3-5 times per week. Even if it is just a walk with your daughter, it will add to health and fitness. The hormones that are released during exercise calms and adds to a feeling of well-being.
The most effective way to pass down beauty is by example. Even if your daughter won’t admit it publicly, she is watching what you do!

It’s Mother’s Day in the United States today and lessons can be learned from a mother’s unique type of beauty. A beauty that not only makes her beautiful, but makes her memorable. Any woman, even if she is not a mother, can learn about true beauty from a mother’s unique beauty.
A mother’s eyes are so pretty when they see their child’s accomplishments.
- A mother’s skin glows after running with her children.
- A mother’s hands are the softest when holding the hand of her child.A
- mother’s hair has the most beautiful colors in the sun while playing outdoors with her children.
The lessons that can be learned from mothers is that true beauty comes from the balance of inner beauty and outer beauty. Even the most memorable, most beautifully scented perfume would smell sour on an angry, short-tempered woman with a negative attitude. A plain perfume can be outstanding on a kind hearted, loving women with a positive attitude.
The woman, who wears a beautifully scented perfume, has soft skin from moisturizing, wears the right amount of make-up AND is encouraging, kind, loving, and positive will leave a lasting impression and will be seen as the most beautiful.
While putting on the perfect shade of lipstick, think of what comes out of those lips to family, friends, and people you have contact with throughout the day. It will be the fist step to acquiring true beauty.
No one can control the basic physical appearance they were born with, but everyone can control their inner beauty.
