CK One – The Classic Unisex Fragrance
Tuesday, December 7th, 2010When it comes to sexy unisex scents, there is one that stands head and shoulders above the rest – CK One by Calvin Klein. CK One was launched in 1994 and it instantly became a huge best-seller. It epitomised a feeling of low maintenance 90s urban cool that everyone wanted to be part of. Its unique green-citrus-woodsy fragrance seemed so cool and effortless in comparison to the power perfumes of the eighties and the uber-feminine or macho fragrances of the time. Personally I loved CK One and I still do, it just feels so simple, so fresh and sensual all at the same time. It is a fragrance you can wear anywhere and unlike a lot of so-called unisex fragrances, it actually is unisex. Many unisex scents err on the side of masculine or feminine but CK One just smells great on everyone.
CK One is classified as a citrus aromatic fragrance but it blends a wide range of notes, including florals, fruity aromatics and woods. It opens with top notes of pineapple, green accords, mandarin, papaya, bergamot, lemon and cardamom. The heart contains nutmeg, violet, orris root, jasmine, lily of the valley and rose. The base notes are sandalwood, amber, musk, cedar and oakmoss.
CK One Summer
Calvin Klein have released many flankers and variations on CK One but one of their most successful is the original CK One Summer. This fragrance was released in 2004 and like the original CK One it is a citrus aromatic, but it has a lovely energised, sporty summer twist. CK One Summer has kiwi and citrus top notes, cactus, blueberry leaf and lily of the valley heart notes and base notes of musk and vetiver.
