Earlier in the month of July, Kim Kardashian announced on her personal blog that she is going to enter the fragrance industry. Kardashian, the 27-year-old television personality from Los Angeles, plans to release the perfume on Mother’s Day in 2009.
The Mother’s Day release is more than just a coincidence. In fact, it was Kardashian’s mother who first helped her on her path to creating her own perfume.
To help her achieve her goal, Kardashian is partnering with some of the biggest names in the industry. Caroline Sabas, a perfumer from France who first was a friend of Kardashian’s mother, is helping Kardashian create the scent. The two will work together to try to figure out a combination that will result in a fragrance that is unique to Kardashian.
Scott Oshry will team with Kardashian to design the perfume bottle. New Wave Fragrances will help Kardashian distribute the fragrance. Once released, the plan is to make it available in the United States, England, Japan, Australia and Germany.
While Kardashian might not have a long history of fame, she comes from a famous family. Her father, Robert Kardashian, was both a friend and a lawyer for OJ Simpson. Bruce Jenner, Kardashian’s stepfather, is a famous Olympian.
Kardashian’s friendship with Paris Hilton helped her gain fame. So did her internet leaked sex tape filmed with her and her ex-boyfriend Ray J. Currently, she is dating Reggie Bush, an NFL running back for the New Orleans Saints. She also has a reality show called Keeping Up With the Kardashian.
Although Kardashian doesn’t have much experience in the fragrance industry, she has become one of the hottest names in the celebrity scene. She has experience as a fashion stylist, so she has a good pulse on what trends could appeal to a mass audience.
