Wrinkles are a naturally occurring part of aging and no matter what we do, they will keep coming! We do have some control over some of the process. With proper care of the skin and protecting the skin from the sun we have control over the following:
- Number of wrinkles
- Deepness of wrinkles
- Frequency of occurrence of new wrinkles
The sun provides energy and warmth. It is essential to life on planet earth. It is also the biggest contributor to aged and wrinkled skin. Squinting in the sun, especially around reflective water, will increase wrinkles around the eyes. If the skin is already dry and moisturizers are not used, wrinkles will deepen quickly and multiply. The investment in adequate eye protections from the sun is well worth the cost of the sunglasses. It is an inexpensive way to maintain a youthful appearance.
There are many ways to protect skin from the sun and slow down the formation of wrinkles. Some of the ways to prevent sun damage to skin:
- To protect the entire face from aging and wrinkles from the effects of the sun, always use sun block.
- Use a moisturizer daily and choose a moisturizer that has a sun block.
- Wearing a hat will keep the face protected. It will also reduce color bleaching from the sun.
- Do yard work when the area is shaded, this will minimizing the time in the sun
- Consume adequate amounts of water to keep skin hydrated from the inside
Another way to control wrinkles is with moisturizers. There are different types of moisturizers. There are different moisturizers for different types of skin. They work by hydrating the skin or by creating a barrier to reduce skin moisture loss.
Age happens, but there is no reason to help it along.
